Tips to Take Pictures Using a Mobile Phone

Mobile cameras are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making mobile photography even more popular. Still, many don’t take full advantage of the default camera app. Well, check out the following tips for taking cool pictures using mobile phones.
Quoted from Gizmodo, Saturday (17/4/2021) the following tips and tricks can help you take better photos using the default camera app on your smartphone. All these tips will be useful for Android and iPhone mobile phone users.

1. Know the 'rule of thirds'

The ‘third rule’ is a guide that can be followed to frame your photos so that they look proportionate. With a smartphone camera, you don’t have to imagine how to divide your photo object into nine rectangular segments.

By featuring a grid, your screen is divided into nine rectangular segments. For cameras on Android, go to Settings in the camera app and find the Grid submenu and activate.

For iOS, select the Photos & Camera menu in the Settings app, then turn on the Grid toggle.

2. Find a stable position

Stable grip is very important for mobile photography, especially for taking pictures in low light conditions. You can use a portable tripod to stabilize your smartphone.

But if not, you can use objects such as walls, tables and so on. Don’t forget to turn on the timer if you want to take pictures from a camera placed on a desk or remote closet.

3. Change the focus

The default camera app lets you change focus with just one tap on the screen. Not only does it change the focus, it can also change the level of light exposure according to the place you choose.

To change the exposure level, simply raise or lower the indicator that appears with the light or sunlight icon. This method can be used on Android or iPhone cameras.

4. Use the physical shutter button

To keep the camera stable while pressing the shutter button on a smartphone screen can be a bit difficult. One solution is to use one of the volume buttons on your smartphone as the physical shutter button.

5. Use HDR mode automatically

Almost all smartphone cameras today have an automatic HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode that when activated will use this filter if needed. So, the dark part and the light part in your photo will look balanced.

6. Take advantage of natural and artificial light

To get a good photo, a subject that gets light is important enough. So look around and see what light sources you can use, such as sunlight or lamps.

There is no one -size -fits -all approach, but make sure the subject you are photographing is as clear as possible.

7. Take pictures with 'burst' mode

The smartphone camera is now equipped with a ‘burst’ mode. With this mode, if you are not sure of taking one photo with one click, then it is better that you take many photos at once and choose the best one afterwards.

On Android and iPhone smartphones, this mode is usually activated by pressing and holding the shutter button on the screen for the desired length of time. Even on some Android smartphones there is a ‘smart boom’ feature that can pick the best photos.

8. Clean the lens

This may sound trivial, but a dirty lens can affect the result of a photo taken. Therefore, it is important to keep your camera lens clean.

No need to be complicated, a clean cloth is enough to clean the lens. You can also use a damp cotton to clean the dirt.
