Google Reveals Game Mode Feature on Android 12

Google revealed one of the biggest features available in Android 12, namely Game Mode. Not only that, Android 12 will also allow players to play games before they finish downloading.
At the Games Developer Conference event, Google shared what features of the game will be available in Android 12. One of them is the Game Dashboard which provides quick access to several useful functions when playing games.

This dashboard contains useful features for players such as taking screenshots, screen recording, viewing FPS, and activating do not disturb (DND). All of these features are accessible via buttons at the top of the dashboard.

There are also several other buttons, including buttons for streaming to YouTube Live for players, viewing achievements, and setting optimizations for supported games.

This optimization is possible thanks to the Game Mode API which makes it easy for gamers to choose between battery saving by enabling the Battery Saver option, or displaying the highest frame rate by enabling the Performance option.

Google says that the Game dashboard feature will be available on select Android 12 devices in the next few months.

Google also unveiled a ‘Play as You Download’ feature that will enhance the gaming experience on Android 12. This function allows players to play the game of their choice before the download is complete.

Games that support this feature will have a flash icon on the Install button on the Play Store page. Google says that this feature is available for games that use the Play Asset Delivery system.

From the demonstration shown, the game can be played immediately even though the indicator in the Play Store shows the game is only 18%loaded. Google says through this feature they see new games can be opened twice as fast.
