These are the Countries with the World's Fastest 5G Connections

Commercial 5G networks are still new in some countries. But in some countries, this fifth generation network has been available for years and the speed is getting faster.
Internet speed checking service provider SpeedCheck recently released a list of the 20 countries with the fastest 5G networks. They compiled this list by looking at the average download speed using 5G in each country.

The first position is actually held by South Korea with an average download speed of 449.31 Mbps. South Korea is also one of the first countries to launch commercial 5G.

Download speeds in South Korea are far behind other countries. In second place is Taiwan with an average download speed of 135.36 Mbps.

The next position is filled by the UK (126.49 Mbps), Japan (124.25 Mbps), Germany (120.69 Mbps), Austria (120.24 Mbps), and Switzerland (99.06 Mbps). This result was found through speed tests conducted in February and March 2021.

Interestingly, the United States, which is also one of the early adopters of 5G, did not make it into the top 10. The 5G download speed in the US reached 43.4 Mbps, or 10 times slower than the speed in South Korea, as quoted from the SpeedCheck blog, Wednesday (7/7/2021).

The report also compared the prices of 5G internet plans in South Korea and the US. SpeedCheck found that 5G users in the US pay around USD 1.5 per GB, while users in South Korea pay USD 2.3 per GB.

Although 5G users in South Korea have to pay more, they get a much faster network. The price of a 5G internet package in South Korea starts from 89,000 Won per month.

In addition to being superior in terms of speed, SpeedCheck also found that 5G penetration in South Korea is higher when compared to the US. They recorded 5G penetration in South Korea of more than 20% in three years, while in the US it was less than 10%.
