A bronze statue depicting the likeness of Elon Musk has just been unveiled, coinciding with his 50th birthday. But the statue was actually mocked by netizens for various reasons.
The statue was made by investment firm Public.com, which also made 100 minifigures of Elon Musk to share with its followers. The life-size statue was placed in Manhattan, New York on Monday.
"Love him or hate him, @elonmusk turns 50 today. We're giving away 100 mini Elon figurines. It's up to you what you do with your figurines," Public.com said in a tweet on Twitter, as quoted from the Independent. Thursday (1/1) 7/2021).
"And because Elon's ambitions (and maybe his ego) aren't miniatures, we're putting a full-sized statue on 14th St and The High Lini in NYC."
And because Elon's ambitions (and perhaps ego) are decidedly not miniature, we dropped a life-sized statue on 14th St. and the stairs of The High Line in NYC.

After the statue's existence was announced on Twitter, netizens immediately mocked the statue. Many say the face on the statue doesn't look like Musk.
The statue depicts the figure of a smiling man looking up with both hands holding his head. Some netizens said the statue looked more like Gerald Ford or Tony Soprano, and some compared it to the iconic statue of Cristiano Ronaldo.
"The best thing I can say about this wasted bronze is that it doesn't look like Elon Musk," said one netizen.

There are a number of netizens who are grateful that Public.com helped inform the location of the statue so that it can be immediately damaged or thrown into the Hudson River in that area.
"It would be a shame if someone threw a tomato at the statue and caused irreparable rust," wrote one netizen.
"The statue will be destroyed before this weekend," wrote another netizen.
Elon Musk celebrated his 50th birthday on June 28. In addition to being successful as the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Musk is also known for making controversial comments.
On his birthday yesterday, his mother, Maye, also congratulated him on Twitter while posting a photo of Elon Musk as a baby. Musk responded with a heart emoji.
