Some time ago, WhatsApp was caught developing a feature that allows users to send high-quality videos. Now WhatsApp is also expanding the same feature for photos.
WABetaInfo discovered this feature in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.21.14.6. Similar to the feature developed for video, WhatsApp users can then choose the quality of the photo to be sent, including the highest quality.
Currently, if a WhatsApp user sends a photo in a chat, the quality will decrease because the size is compressed. If you want to send a photo in the best quality, it must be sent as a document.
With this new feature, WhatsApp users no longer have to go through complicated ways to send high-quality photos. Because WhatsApp gives users the option to send photos with the desired quality.
From the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users can choose the quality of the photos they want to send via the 'Storage and Data' menu in the settings.

WhatsApp offers three photo quality options to choose from, namely Auto, Best quality and Data saver, the same as it offers for sending videos, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Friday (9/7/2021)
Auto is the recommended option and WhatsApp will detect the appropriate compression algorithm for the photo. Best quality, of course, allows users to send photos in the best quality, while Data saver will optimally compress photos to reduce their size and save data quota.
It is not yet known whether the Best quality option actually sends the image according to its quality or slightly compressed. Whether this feature will be available for photos uploaded on WhatsApp Status is also unknown.
This feature is currently under development and will only be available to beta testers in the next update. As it is still in the development stage, it seems that WhatsApp users will have to wait for a while to feel this feature.
This is not the only new feature for sending photos and videos that is being developed by WhatsApp. Not long ago, the Facebook-owned app launched a 'View once' feature that can automatically delete photos, videos and GIFs after being viewed once by the recipient.
