TikTok has announced that it will extend the duration of its video content creation by 3 minutes. Previously TikTok only limited it to 15-60 seconds.
This feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks for the latest version of TikTok to all content creators on TikTok.
"We're rolling out the option to create longer videos for everyone on TikTok, giving our global community the flexibility to record, upload and edit videos of up to three minutes right inside TikTok," TikTok said. 2/7/2021).
TikTok explains that once a video is created, users will get a notification that the longer video is now part of their creative toolbox.
This TikTok feature update is considered interesting because it is similar to Instagram. At that time Instagram introduced the ability for users to upload short videos with a limited duration.
But after that they launched the IGTV feature that allows users to upload videos with a longer duration to compete with platforms like YouTube.
One of the appeals of TikTok is that its content is short and easy to digest, but it seems that TikTok wants to attract more types of content creators to its platform, such as those who might appreciate the ability to post longer content.
