The final version of iOS 15 will be released by Apple next month. There are many new features that iPhone users will try, here are 7 of them that are worth waiting for.
The iOS 15 update was introduced last June at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Since then Apple has sent out beta versions to developers and the public several times.
Users in the beta can try out new features right before the final version is released. Most likely iOS 15 will be shipped to all users in September along with the release of the iPhone 13.
Here are 7 new iOS features that iPhone users should look forward to
1. FaceTime calls
Considering how the pandemic has shifted jobs, education, and business into the virtual realm, Apple has updated its video calling software in iOS 15. Taking inspiration from Zoom, FaceTime will now present video call participants in a grid view.
Users will also have the option to create a FaceTime link to share and invite others to the video chat. Those with the link can join this call through Google Chrome or the Microsoft Edge browser even if they don't have an Apple device.
Apple also ensures that calls will be encrypted end to end. The portrait mode on the iPhone camera can also be used for FaceTime to blur the background. Video call sound quality will also feel more natural with the help of spatial audio.
2. SharePlay
Because PPKM keeps many of us away from friends and family. Apple has introduced SharePlay, a feature that lets you share movies, music, and screens with anyone you FaceTiming with. This includes watching the same movies and TV shows on the Apple TV+streaming platform, for example.
3. Notifications
Notifications from apps now display larger app icons making it easier to see what's available at a glance. When you receive a message from someone from the Messages app, for example, a photo of their contact will be included to make it easier to identify who sent you the message.
iOS 15 also provides a new notification management feature so that users are not overwhelmed anymore. Using machine learning, the system will identify patterns of cell phone use and choose which notifications are included in the summary and when they should be sent. Missed calls and messages will not be included in the category.
4. Focus
This feature has the ability to set notification, call, and message filters, automatically reply to others when you're not available, and comes with convenient customization and automation. For example, while on vacation, you can block notifications from work applications and emails.
5. Live Text
The Camera and Photos app can now recognize text, and let you copy, paste, translate, and search for information.
Later in both applications, it will appear as an icon in the bottom right when text is detected. Select it and you will be able to copy the recognized text into the Notes application.
6. Safari
It looks fresher, and there's a new Tab Group feature that lets users save a group of sites and sync them to other Apple devices. Universal web extensions in Safari that were previously present on the Mac are now being brought to iOS.
7 Memoji
iOS 15 brings improvements to Memoji. Users can now modify their appearance, from the face to the clothes.
