Facebook announced that it is adding end to end encryption to its calling and video calls features in Messenger. This coincides, with updating controls for expired messages.
Previously, they had also embedded the option to secure text chats, with end-to-end encryption since 2016. Then, after seeing a surge in the use of voice and video calls features so much, they decided to secure it too.
"Audio and video calls reach more than 150 million per day on Messenger. Now, we're introducing this chat mode call, so you can secure your conversations," said Ruth Kricheli, Director of Product Management Messenger.

This social networking service adds, that this has become an industry standard. It functions like a lock and key, where only the user and the people in the chat have access to the conversation.
"Your messages and calls in the conversation will be encrypted from the moment they leave the device until they reach the recipient's device," Kricheli wrote.
He asserts, so that no one else, including Facebook, can see and listen to what the user sent or said.
"We have also updated the expired message feature in chat," wrote Kricheli.
According to him, users don't always need their messages to persist. So, the timing feature allows one to decide when their message expires in the chat.
"We've updated this setting, giving people the option to choose the amount of time before all new messages disappear. The options range from at least 5 seconds to as long as 24 hours," he added.
A little information, this security option will also be embedded in Instagram's Direct Message (DM). Even so, Facebook still has to do a series of tests so that the feature can run without problems.
