Amazon gave gifts to its employees who wanted to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This step seems to have been taken by Amazon to convince its employees to be vaccinated.
The prizes offered were unstoppable, there was cash worth USD 500 thousand, a car, for a holiday package, which they offered to their front line workers who had been vaccinated.
In total, the prize draw was worth USD 2 million, which was divided into two cash prizes of USD 500 thousand, six cash prizes of USD 100 thousand, five cars, and five holiday packages.
The lottery program is called 'Max Your Vax', and is expected to convince workers who are still reluctant to be vaccinated. The program was started along with new rules on masks implemented by Amazon.
That is, all employees at their logistics facilities, whether vaccinated or not, must wear masks. The rules will take effect on Aug. 9.
"We believe that the way to protect our frontline workers and communities from COVID-19 is through vaccination. We have more than 1,100 vaccination sites to make it easier for employees and their family members to get vaccinated," said Kelly Nantel, a spokeswoman for Amazon.
Previously, Amazon had exempted its employees who had been vaccinated from wearing masks while working. However, they changed this rule after the delta variant of the Corona virus began to spread in the United States.
The lottery program is not the only way Amazon can convince its employees to get the vaccine. Previously they offered cash of USD 80 for each employee who had been vaccinated. Because they desperately need their employees to keep working, increasing online shopping transactions are high.
