Residents of Canary Wharf, London, England, were confused by the appearance of a mysterious flash of light from under the water. The light emerged from the depths of the Thames.
This sighting was then uploaded to the Facebook group of Canary Wharf and Isle of Dogs residents on Sunday (15/8) by a netizen named Juliana Asayevich. Through the Facebook group, Asayevich asked other residents what kind of light was seen in the video footage.
Many Londoners speculated the light could be a submarine hiding beneath the surface of the river. Others joked that the light might come from aliens flying over the Thames.
Quoted from My London News, one resident suspected, the flashing light was a traffic beacon which was quite waterproof and took a while to finally die after sinking.
"Whoever throws it that far, might fit in with the Olympic team," one resident joked.
Other residents guessed that the object was a flashing bicycle light, considering that there had been previous incidents of bicycles being dumped in the river canal.
"That's a UFO. A floating object that can't be identified," another commented.
"Who knows it's a rare type of fish that emits light," said another netizen.
So far, there has been no confirmation of what light is coming out of the Thames, and what exactly is emitting the mysterious light.
