The whereabouts of Larry Page, one of Google’s founders, are mysteriously not much revealed. After being found in Fiji during the pandemic, he was found entering New Zealand territory, and given a residence permit in that country.
Page entered New Zealand in mid -January after his son needed emergency medical treatment. She came to New Zealand by Kiwi Air ambulance, then stayed in a hotel in Auckland, while her son was treated at Starship hospital, in the same city.
Interestingly, in January 2021, New Zealand was in a lockup, and did not accept the arrival of foreigners. Loh, but why can Page still enter?
Apparently Page is said to have applied for a visa three months earlier, in November 2020. He applied for a visa with 'Investor Plus' status. This status is given specifically for people who invest 10 million New Zealand dollars, or about Rp. 100 billion.
The investment was reportedly given to Wisk Aviation, which is an autonomous electric aircraft startup. Wisk is actually headquartered in the United States, but has a branch office in New Zealand, and will conduct flight testing in that country.
Page’s interest in Wisk stems from Kitty Hawk, another airline he also supports. Wisk, formerly Zephyr, is a joint venture between Boeing and Kitty Hawk.
However, due to its inaccessible location, visas - according to the New Zealand government - cannot be processed. His visa was only approved on February 4, 2021.
Even so, Page has been in New Zealand since January, and according to the New Zealand government, this was done after Page asked for special permission due to an emergency, namely to evacuate his son from Fiji because he needed medical treatment.
“A day after the application was received, a New Zealand air ambulance complete with nurses (evacuated) the child and his parents from Fiji to New Zealand,” New Zealand Health Minister Andrew Little said in a statement to parliament.
Few were called by the New Zealand parliament to be asked about Page’s arrival as they closed their borders with foreign nationals, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
However, according to Little, Page and his family followed the COVID-19 dissemination protocol when they arrived in New Zealand, which was by isolating themselves in a hotel while their son was hospitalized. Page is currently rumored to have left New Zealand, and returned to Fiji.
Page, according to Forbes, is the 6th richest person in the world, with a fortune of USD 117 billion. He left his position as CEO of Alphabet - Google’s parent - in 2019, but remains a member of the company’s board of directors and an operating shareholder.
