A data analytics service, App Annie, announced that in the first half of 2021, players around the world have spent USD 1.7 million on transactions on iOS and the Google Play Store every week around the world.
According to a report titled 2021 Mobile Gaming Tear Down, an average of 810 mobile games reach a revenue figure of USD 1 million per month. This figure shows an increase of up to 6% from the previous year and 25% from the figure in 2019.
There are also the top three games that generate the most revenue. Where users spend more money on mobile games, like Roblox, Genshin Impact and Honor of Kings.
According to App Annie’s future report, mobile gaming is now on track. The industry is predicted to generate more than USD 120 billion in 2021.
This number has certainly increased by 19% from the previous year. Meanwhile, when referring to 2019, the increase occurred to 40%.
While the Covid-19 pandemic is still going on, that hasn’t diminished players ’interest in mobile gaming. In fact, the number of downloads exceeded 1 billion in the first week of 2020.
This is also due to new and old players, which provides an opportunity for this number to increase. Not to be outdone, the surge in mobile gaming is coming from emerging markets.
India is the largest country contributing to the number of mobile game downloads in 2021. Followed by the United States (US), Brazil, Indonesia and Russia.
This is in contrast to data shown in 2011. Where the US is the largest market for mobile gaming, then China is in second place and the UK is in third place.
