One of the functions that Windows users often use is Alt-Tab, which is to move from one application to another. However, some users report that this function is no longer usable. Wow!
Quoted from Techspot, Thursday (19/8/2021), this function is called disappearing from Windows 10 after users update the operating system with updates KB5004296 released in July 2021 and KB5005033 released in August 2021.
Alt-Tab, as is well known, works by pressing and holding the Alt key, and pressing the Tab key to select the currently open application. After the application is selected, the user just releases the Alt key to move to the selected application.
Well, unfortunately, for some users who installed the July and August 2021 updates, this function is no longer usable. One user stated that his computer screen only displays black when using Alt-Tab to move from a game that is in full screen mode and cannot return to the game.
"Updated Windows 10 sometimes automatically moves games from Steam that are open in full screen mode shortly after the game is opened. So now all full screen games will be saved to the taskbar. If I try to click on the game, Windows 10 will automatically move it from full screen," wrote another user.
So far there has been no fix or statement from Microsoft. One way to fix this is to remove the update that is causing it.
But there is an easier way, because it seems that this problem is related to the 'News and Interest' feed that was recently introduced to Windows 10. By turning off this new feature, the Alt-Tab function is back to work.
It's also easy to turn it off, by right-clicking anywhere on the taskbar, going to the 'News and Interest' menu, and selecting 'Turn off'. This new widget will disappear, and the Alt-Tab feature will work normally again.
