Shawn Layden, the former boss of PlayStation, left Sony since 2019. After two years had passed, he also explained the reasons why he decided to leave the Japanese technology company.
Previously, this departure did not leave much explanation regarding the reason for leaving. But now, Layden has more to say about his decision to leave Sony.
"This is a youth activity. I feel it's the right time to pass on my legacy. To step forward in the future and allow other generations to bring the PlayStation 5 to the market," said Layden.
Even so, there is some speculation that states that he left Sony due to internal problems. There is a power struggle between him and his current boss, Jim Ryan, who oversaw the launch of the PlayStation 5 last year.
But according to him the rumors circulating are not factual. Layden felt it was the right time to leave the company he had worked for for 32 years.
Since leaving Sony, his successor has been Hermes Hulst, who previously led the team at the Guerrilla Games. Over the years, the guerrillas have developed great games, such as Killzone and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Currently, the former PlayStation boss has moved elsewhere and is still in touch with the gaming industry. Layden, is now a consultant at the Streamline Media Group, where he advises companies on global video game-related strategies.
Together with Alexander Fernandez, CEO of Streamline Media, they talked about how the company aims to promote diversity by recruiting talent from across the globe.
Layden hopes that Streamline's focus on helping facilitate game development around the world will result in more diverse games. So that it can balance the heavyweight game at the top
