Jeff Bezos who Wants Eternal Life

The richest man in the world Jeff Bezos seems to want to live forever. From his demeanor, living the life of an average human being who is generally 'stuck' in 100 years doesn't seem to satisfy him.

Amazon and Blue Origins founder Jeff Bezos is reportedly planning to invest in a new Silicon Valley startup called Altos Labs initiated by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner.

It seems normal, someone who has money does not fund startups. The problem is, there is something unique. Altos Labs has a primary mission to extend human life or even immortality. Gathered by us, here are the efforts of Jeff Bezos who seems to want to live a long life:

1. The work of Altos Labs funded by Jeff Bezos

Quoted from CBS, in essence this startup is working on technology to rejuvenate human cells and prolong the life of most people.

The breakthrough is called reprogramming technology that has the potential to revitalize any cell. This technology may be able to improve poor vision, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and other problems caused by aging.

One of the famous scientists involved is Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, a biologist from Spain. "Aging is not an irreversible process," he said in 2018. In other words, he believes human aging can be prevented with the help of technology.

2. Capital in other companies

Jeff Bezos wants to live long, judging by his actions. Previously, he invested in Unity Biotechnology, a company that is looking for drugs to fight aging.

Even some time ago in a farewell letter from Amazon, Bezos offered a sentence that was said by the British evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins.

"Stopping death is something you have to work on. If living things don't actively work to prevent it, they will eventually fuse with their surroundings and cease to exist as autonomous things. This is what happens when they die," Bezos said at the time.

Indeed, the context is more so that Amazon as an online store giant can live a long time, not sink with the times. But according to Bezos, it is relevant for many things including individuals. Maybe also as a signal that he wants to live forever.

3. Get Insulated by Elon Musk

Elon Musk, his rival in the space company SpaceX, also satirized Bezos who is believed to be looking for eternal life. Elon Musk's satire is the umpteenth time the feud between the two entrepreneurs has been in the public sphere.

SpaceX bosses say that if that doesn't work, Jeff Bezos will demand death -- just like when he demanded NASA award its mission contract to Blue Origins instead of SpaceX.

"And if that doesn't work, he'll demand death!" Elon Musk wrote in a tweet on Twitter.
