Xiaomi went crazy during Q2 2021, not only being the king of the mobile market, they were also the leader in the wearable market with the Mi Band 6.
During Q2 2021, according to Canalys Xiaomi shipped 52.6 million phones, and had a market share of 16.7%, the second largest under Samsung and above Apple. Even during June 2021, according to Counterpoint, Xiaomi's market share was the highest in the mobile phone business, at 17.1%.
The flashy performance turns out to be not only in the mobile phone business, because even in the wearable business, they have new achievements that are helped by the Mi Band 6. According to Canalys, during Q2 2021, Xiaomi shipped 8 million wearable units (up 2.6% YoY), overtook Apple which shipped 7.9 million wearable units (up 29.4% YoY).
In terms of market share for wearables, Xiaomi got 19.6% and Apple 19.3%.
In the 3rd position, Huawei shipped 3.7 million wearable units in the April-June 2021 period. This number of shipments decreased by 53.9% compared to Q2 2020, which made their market share down 9.2% from 21%.
Fitbit, now owned by Google, is in 4th place with shipments of 3 million wearable units and a market share of 7.3%, up 20.6% YoY. And Samsung is in 5th position with 2.5 million units of wearable shipments, 6.1% market share and 114.1% growth.
In total, during Q2 2021 there were 40.9 million wearable units shipped, up 5.6% compared to Q2 2020.
"Xiaomi took a wise move by speeding up the release of the Mi Band 6, which is a more attractive device than its predecessor. This change of pace helped Xiaomi increase shipments of the bracelet by 1.3 million units during this quarter," said Cynthia Chen, Research Analys at Canalys.
Still from the Canalys report, Xiaomi is also the ruler of the mobile phone business in 22 countries, such as Italy, France, and also Indonesia. Even in Spain they have become 'rulers' since six consecutive quarters.
In addition, in 65 countries they are in the top five. Then from the 22 countries where they are ranked first, there are 10 countries where Xiaomi was first in that position.
Throughout Q2 2021, the total revenue collected by Xiaomi reached 87.8 billion yuan or equivalent to 64% year-on-year while the adjusted net profit in the same period reached 6.3 billion yuan, an increase of 87.4% YoY.
