WhatsApp has recently received attention because of its chat reporting and moderation system which is considered to violate user privacy. Now, WhatsApp is developing a new chat reporting system that is more private.
This new reporting system was first discovered by the WABetaInfo page. With this new system, users can report a specific message in a chat to WhatsApp.
As is known, the WhatsApp chat reporting system currently sends messages that are considered inappropriate along with the four previous chats to WhatsApp. These four additional messages are sent to WhatsApp to help their moderators understand the context to determine whether or not to block the messenger's account.
With this new system, if a user reports an inappropriate message then only that message will be sent to WhatsApp. This rule applies to all messages sent in individual, group or business chats.
Currently, the new message reporting system is available in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.21.20.1, as well as WhatsApp beta for iOS versions 2.21.190.12 and 2.21 190.11, as quoted from Android Authority, Wednesday (22/9/2021).
Users of the WhatsApp beta for iOS who have already received this new feature will see a new Report option that will appear when they tap and hold on a message to be reported. This new button will appear along with the existing Star, Reply, Forward, Copy and Delete options.
Whereas in WhatsApp beta for Android, users can report a chat by tapping and holding the message, and then tapping the three-dot menu button in the upper right corner of the screen, then tapping the Report button.
If the user selects the Report option to report the chat, WhatsApp will also display a notification dialog that the user can click on to block the contact or business from sending inappropriate messages.
Currently WhatsApp's new message reporting system is only available for beta testers. It is not yet known when this Facebook-owned application will release the stable version for all users.
