PUBG Mobile Becomes a Sport at the 2022 Asian Games

 


PUBG Mobile is confirmed to be one of the esports sports (sports) that will be officially competed and compete for medals at the 2022 Asian Games which will be held in Hangzhou, China.

This is the first time PUBG Mbile has participated in the Asian Games, where the matches themselves will be held from September 10 to 25, 2022. In this event, PUBG Mobile joins seven other games that are also being competed.


The games are Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA Sports FIFA branded soccer game, Hearthstone, League of Legends and Street Fighter V.

We are very fortunate to have a number of very talented players from several countries in the region and can't wait to see them compete, as part of such a prestigious event. Fans of the game can look forward to the competition attracts the best PUBG MOBILE players in the region, as they celebrate with the best athletes in Asia," said James Yang, Director of Global Esports, Tencent Games.

The PUBG Mobile esports circuit has seen massive growth in 2021 with 14 new leagues and a total prize pool of USD 15 million for the year, the highest in mobile esports history.

The Asian Games is a multi-sport event held every four years, where the best Asian athletes compete. The event is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the second largest event of its kind, after the Olympics.


The Asian Games was the first place to pave the way for esports representation to compete, where in 2018, esports began to be competed only as demos. In 2020, and now 2022, esports is part of the official program and a medal contest.
