Microsoft warns Windows 11 users that some features cannot be used because the certificate is no longer valid.
The certificate expires on October 31, and will temporarily disable features and apps like the Snipping Tool, touch keyboard, and emoji panel.
To fix this problem Microsoft prepared a patch. But don't be happy just yet, the patch is currently still in the preview period. This means that users must install it manually via Windows Update in Windows 11 settings.
The patch in question is KB4006746, which will fix touch keyboard issues, voice typing, emoji panel, and issues in the 'getting started' and 'tips' menus.
But unfortunately the patch cannot solve the problem in the Snipping Tool. As a solution, Microsoft recommends that users take screenshots in a more old-school way, by using the Print Screen button on the keyboard.
It is not clear how many Windows 11 users will be affected by this issue, and so far there is no workaround that can be used to re-enable the Snipping Tool.
But there are also those who say that the problematic certificate can be tricked by changing the date on the Windows 11 system to October 30 and opening the Snipping Tool. This date can be changed again if the application can open normally.
This expired certificate also causes problems in the account settings section for Windows 11 with S mode turned on. Unfortunately Microsoft itself can not be sure when this problem can be fixed.
"We're still working on fixing the Snipping tool and S mode only and will provide updates as more information becomes available," Microsoft said.
So far, there have been several problems that have occurred in Windows 11. For example, performance has decreased by up to 15% for users using Ryzen processors, which has been found to be the cause and has been fixed by Microsoft.
