Twitter Will Launch 3 New Features, Anything?

Twitter continues to launch many new features throughout 2021, ranging from Spaces to the Twitter Blue subscription service. Not to stop there, social media, which has just undergone a change of CEO, is preparing three new features that will be launched in the near future.

The three features are emoji reactions, downvotes, and grouping of received replies. These three features have been tested in the last few months and will be released soon.

Reverse engineer Nima Owji said he found a reference to the emoji reaction feature in the Twitter code, which indicated the feature would be launched soon.

This feature was previously tested on a limited basis in Turkey last September. With this feature, users can select one of five emojis (heart, cry, cry while laughing, thinking, and applause) to give to a tease.

Not only that, Owji also said Twitter can now store data for the downvote feature, which indicates this feature will be rolled out in the near future. The position of the downvote button is now also shifted to the left of the like button.

Twitter also added an explanation of how the downvote feature works. Users can tap the downvote button if they see a reply that is considered irrelevant to the conversation.

In addition, the downvote given is also private. This means that teaser authors and other users cannot see the list of users who gave downvotes, as quoted from 9to5Mac.

Apparently this downvote feature will be related to the Sort Replies feature. As the name suggests, this feature allows users to choose whether they want to see all tease replies received or only relevant ones.

#Twitter is now able to store the data about your downvotes which means it's coming! I guess they'll use these data in order to make the “Sort” feature work.

With these three features, Twitter certainly hopes its users can get healthier and quality conversations on its platform. It is unknown when the company with the bird logo will launch the three features.

In its explanation, Twitter says relevant replies come from users you follow and other replies that are considered interesting. While all replies will of course display all the replies received, including those that are spam, harmful, and offensive.
