Controversial! Instant Suicide Machine Launching Soon

A capsule in the shape of a coffin but in a futuristic form has been approved for launch in Switzerland. This capsule is actually a machine to help the user commit suicide instantly and 'conveniently'.

The controversial machine called Sarco Suicide Pods can be operated by users who are inside. In addition to the touch of a finger, also with the blink of an eye.

The medical institute in Switzerland has given the green light to this machine. In that country, assisted suicide has been legal since 1942. In 2020 alone, about 1,300 people decided to commit suicide.

The Sarco engine was developed by the non-profit organization Exit International, which campaigns for legal suicide. Its founder, Dr Philip Nitschke, who is known by the nickname Dr Death, calls this machine portable and can be placed anywhere the user wants to die.

When operated, the oxygen level inside the capsule will drop below a critical point. The suicide process takes less than a minute and death occurs due to hypoxia so that the user dies relatively peacefully and experiences no pain.

"This machine can be placed anywhere to die. Can be outdoors with a beautiful setting," said Dr Philip.

The upper capsule can then be removed from the machine to bury the suicidal person. Currently still a prototype, the machine is expected to be used in Switzerland next year.

Not just anyone can use this machine. They have to pass various kinds of questions as proof that they want to end their life on their own accord.

Of course there are critics who come against the controversial machine. For example, its futuristic form is considered a glorification of suicide. There have also been criticisms from religious institutions who consider Dr Philip's actions inappropriate.
