Crypto Mine Fire, Losses Reach USD 60 thousand

A three-story building in the Chiang Mai area, Thailand, caught fire. The cause of the fire, according to local officials, is strongly suspected to be a crypto mine contained in the building.

As quoted by us from PC Gamer, Tuesday (12/14/2021) at least 72 server units were found charred and damaged due to the fire that occurred a few days ago. According to investigations from the local police, the losses incurred were quite large, estimated at over USD 60 thousand.

Once there was a report of a fire, the local fire department reportedly acted fairly quickly. And luckily the fire in this building was extinguished before it spread to other buildings in the vicinity.

"According to police, the fire was extinguished after some time. There were 72 servers damaged. It is believed that this building was used to mine cryptocurrencies," said City News.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries in this incident. Seen in the circulating photo, the firefighter entered the room with the crypto mine already damaged.

It is not yet clear what caused the fire in the three-story building because it is still under investigation. Of course, mining cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin does require devices with high specifications and are power hungry. So care is needed to operate it so that it remains safe and does not experience problems.

"Hopefully this can be a lesson for other crypto miners wherever they are that good ventilation and cooling systems are very important for computer performance to mine crypto money and also for the safety of crypto mining buildings as well," wrote PC World responding to this incident. .
