Google was recently rumored to be launching its first smartwatch in 2022. Now the form of a smartwatch allegedly called the Pixel Watch has been revealed.
YouTuber and tipster Jon Prosser has shared a render showing the appearance of the Google Pixel Watch. He says these are official marketing drawings from Google and not 3D CAD renderings.
From the picture, you can see the watch is round with a bezel-less design. But it is unknown if this device will have a virtual rotating bezel a la Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
The exterior of the Google Pixel Watch looks to borrow designs from Samsung and Apple. The rounded watch face follows the design of the Galaxy Watch 4, but the curved edges of the screen look like the Apple Watch.
This image also shows the Google Pixel Watch having a crown on the right and a microphone. In another render, the watch shows Google Maps navigation and a UI that is making a phone call, as quoted from XDA Developer, Tuesday (7/12/2021).
Prosser previously shared a render of the Google Pixel Watch back in April, which seems to be based on these images. This indicates the currently revealed image may be quite old and does not represent the hardware design that Google is currently developing.
According to Prosser, the Pixel Watch will not be canceled by Google and its official launch is drawing near. When this smartwatch will launch is still a mystery, as so far rumors have only said the Pixel Watch will launch in 2022.
Based on previous leaks, the Google Pixel Watch is known by the internal name 'Rohan'. This smartwatch will carry the latest version of Wear OS and compete directly with the Apple Watch.
