LG Patents Advanced Folding Screen For Cars

LG, the South Korean tech giant, has reportedly filed a new patent application for a foldable screen for the infotainment system in cars.

This patent was filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and features a unique foldable car infotainment display.

Reported by us from Gizmochina, according to the patent the foldable car infotainment display is similar to the foldable phone that LG showcased earlier this year.

However, since LG has announced its exit from the mobile phone business, they have also focused on foldable gadgets for cars and other entertainment devices.

Looking at this device, the collapsible display panel of the car's infotainment system stretches from a smaller screen to a larger one.

Interestingly, the panel can display content even when folded or unfolded. It's touted to use the popular roll-up technology of rollable smartphones starting in Q1 2021.

Because it can be folded, it is expected to save space when opened. In related news, earlier this month LG announced that it would be shutting down the Android developer website on December 31st. Meaning, after December 31st, LG users will not be able to unlock the bootloader on LG phones.
