Nokia Smartphone Sales Reach 3 Million Units

During the third quarter of 2021, the smartphone market grew by 6% compared to the second quarter of 2021. However, compared to the same period in 2020, there was a decline of 6%.

The report released by Counterpoint also states that Samsung is the leader of the global mobile phone market with a market share of 20%, followed by Apple with a share of 14% and Xioami with 13%.

Counterpoint further revealed Nokia's performance throughout Q3 2021. The Finnish vendor is estimated to have shipped nearly 3 million smartphones from July to September. This figure grew 12% compared to the second quarter of 2021.

This achievement is considered impressive compared to shipments in the third quarter of 2020. There was a significant growth, namely 37%.

The increase was driven by markets in the Middle East, Africa and North America, where LG's exit from the mobile phone business has left a gap that must be filled.

However, in terms of global smartphone maker rankings, Nokia Mobile maintains the 14th position.

For feature phones, Nokia Mobile remains the 2nd largest vendor, shipping around 10 million units in Q3 2021.

When combined with smartphone sales, it makes the figure 13 million in total. That makes Nokia the 11th largest mobile phone vendor on the planet.

However, with this growth, Nokia actually dropped two places compared to the previous quarter.
