Tesla sells whistles for USD 50, Elon Musk mocks Apple's rag

Elon Musk has often sold strange gadgets that have nothing to do with his company. Having previously sold flamethrowers through Boring Co., this time it was Tesla's turn to sell whistles for USD 50.

The limited edition whistle is named 'Cyberwhistle'. The design is inspired by Tesla's Cybertruck and is made of stainless steel.

"Inspired by the Cybertruck, the limited edition Cyberwhistle is a premium collectible made of medical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish. This whistle includes an integrated attachment feature for added versatility," writes the Cyberwhistle description on the Tesla website.

Musk immediately promoted Cyberwhistle on Twitter. In his tweet, the 50-year-old man invited his 65 million followers to blow the Tesla whistle.

Through these whistles and tweets, Musk seems to be insinuating the whistleblower after Tesla was sued by several employees and former employees. They sued after complaining of harassment and racism experienced in the workplace.

In a subsequent tweet, Musk then openly mocked Apple for selling a washcloth called the Apple Polishing Cloth for USD 19. The man who is also the boss of SpaceX called Apple's washcloth a ridiculous thing.

"Don't waste your money on a ridiculous Apple Cloth, just buy our whistle," Musk tweeted afterwards, as quoted from Engadget, Thursday (2/12/2021).

Looks like Musk's invitation to buy this unique whistle worked. Not long after, these whistles were immediately sold out and some were resold through other sites at a higher price.

This isn't the first time Musk has satirized Apple washcloths. When Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the inauguration of a new Apple Store in Turkey last October, Musk immediately quipped Cook and Apple via Twitter.

"Come and see the Apple Cloth TM," Musk tweeted at the time.
