Twitter is the umpteenth social media platform that imitates a full-screen vertical feed like TikTok. Not on the main timeline, this new design is implemented by Twitter on the Explore page.
"We're testing an overhauled and more personalized Explore page to make it easier for you to relax, find new interests, and see what's going on," said a Twitter spokesperson.
With this new design, the Explore page in the Twitter application will consist of two tabs, namely 'For You' and 'Trending'. Users will still be able to reply, retweet, like, or share the information featured in this new feed.
Twitter has not provided more detailed information about how this new display works. But it looks like users can simply swipe to see new content, just like on TikTok.
Twitter says this display is a new way to showcase existing content on Twitter by highlighting its visuals. This is part of Twitter's efforts to improve recommendations that are more personalized for users.
Currently, Twitter is still testing the new look of the Explore page for Android and iOS users in certain countries that use English.
This isn't the first time Twitter has copied other social media features to bring to its platform. Previously they had launched the Spaces feature which was a clone of Clubhouse.
This social media with the bird logo also briefly presented a Fleets feature which is similar to Instagram Stories. But this feature was turned off just eight months after its launch.
