Video conferencing platform Zoom released a series of interesting facts that turned out to be somewhat surprising and the strangest about its users during 2021.
Zoom conducts surveys globally and combines the results with its own internal team to show how they actually use Zoom.
It was not stated how many respondents were involved. However, Zoom explained that more than half 53% of its users think it's okay and natural to eat while listening to online meetings take place.
Then 42% said they made video calls from their bed, and more than a quarter or 26% said they almost never showered before having a Zoom meeting.
Covering the period from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021, Zoom's survey results also found that Wednesday is the most popular day of the week for making Zoom calls, and Tuesday, Thursday next in line. The average duration of a Zoom call is 54 minutes with an average meeting size of 10 participants.
Zoom, which is used in nearly 200 countries and territories around the world, also found January 21, 2021, the busiest day of the year for virtual meetings and February 25 the most popular day for webinars.
In addition, nearly three-quarters or 71% of Zoom users have said the phrase "You are on mute" at some point in the last 12 months, with 57% needing to ask if everyone on the call can see their screen.
75% of users said they waved at the end of their meeting, and outdoor backgrounds (26%) proved to be slightly more popular than blurry backgrounds (25%) or company logos (20%).
And, 43% admit to cleaning only the part of the room that is visible on camera, then 43% of parents often experience their child showing up during online meetings, and 36% say they have a pet that shows up during Zoom meetings.
