In this survey, we use 4 indicators, namely BUMO (Brand Use Most Often), how many brands/platforms are used the most, Top of Mind, which brand is the first in the minds of consumers, consumer penetration, how much usage is in the number of transactions, and the value of transactions in the last three months.
Based on the survey results, among the 3 main e-commerce players in the world, Tokopedia, Shopee, and Lazada, it is known that Shopee is ranked first in the 4 assessment indicators used in the survey. The indicators used are:
Brand Use Most Often (BUMO) indicator. Based on this BUMO indicator, 54% of respondents chose Shopee, followed by Tokopedia (30%) and Lazada (13%).
Top of Mind indicator, Shopee ranks first 54%, followed by Tokopedia (27%) and Lazada (12%). This means that Shopee is the brand or e-commerce platform that is most remembered by the majority of market consumers.
As an indicator of the market share of the number of transactions (share of orders), Shopee also managed to record the highest market share in the number of transactions in three months of transactions, namely 41%, followed by Tokopedia (34%) and Lazada (16%).
As an indicator of transaction value market share, Shopee ranks first to record the largest transaction value market share, which is 40%. Tokopedia (30%) and Lazada (16%).
The data above is the result of research on the online market, involving a total of 1000 respondents from the age of 18-35 years and over. This research was conducted not only in Tier 1 cities like other big cities - which are the barometers, but also in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities which have the potential to be the backbone of future market growth.
In the survey, Ipsos also found that the majority of e-commerce users use mobile phones or tablets to access e-commerce applications, which is 98%. Meanwhile, only 10% of those who access the website via a PC or mobile phone.
