Sultan Ghozali managed to earn USD 10R0,000 selling NFT selfie photos. Now there is another woman who only has USD 120,000 selling NFT images of ducks.
This is the story of Thorne Melcher (33), a software engineer and his friend Mandy Musselwhite (25) an artist in Atlanta, USA. Reported by CNBC, Friday (1/28/2022) they both have a ranch house which is in danger of being confiscated by the bank because it cannot pay its debt of USD 35,587.
Then they made Dastardly Ducks, this is a cartoon picture of a duck in the form of a Non-Fungible Token (NFT). There are 10 thousand images created with a combination of 100 physical characteristics.
This NFT was sold on Wednesday (26/1) yesterday and sold out in 6 hours. These two girls cost USD 120,000. It's even better than Ghozali! Bank debt was immediately paid off.
"We saved our farm by selling cartoon ducks. It was like a dream. I couldn't sleep until all the pictures sold," said Melcher.
How do they do it? Melcher and Musselwhite admitted to being very broke at first. Even a friend gave the initial capital for these two women to start their NFT.
Dastardly Ducks was made in early January. The coding savvy Melcher studied Solidity, the programming language for smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Meanwhile, Musselwhite designed his duck drawing.
The next stage is the mint process, which is making assets into tokens on the blockchain. This process consumes electricity, so to save it, they make mints per dozen duck pictures. One Dastardly Duck costs USD 15, if you buy a pack of a dozen it costs USD 120.
"Our lives changed overnight," said Melcher. Not only were they able to pay off bank debt, the ranch house was not confiscated, both of them also went viral.
Many offers to teach Solidity coding. Many also ordered other works of art from Musselwhite. Meanwhile, many also want to buy agricultural products directly from these two girls, in the form of duck eggs.
Dastardly Ducks are now being sold by a second party on OpenSea, as Ghozali did with his selfies. Melcher and Musselwhite received royalties with a total sales volume of USD 6,354 .
"We don't want to stop here, this is just a gateway to something bigger. We want to make sure we're safe, don't worry about money and can pay all the bills," concluded Melcher.
