TikTok's success and popularity for the short video format has led other social media companies to adopt it. One of them is YouTube.
In 2020 YouTube launched Shorts. In less than two years Short has generated over 5 trillion views.
This is certainly an impressive number, as YouTube Shorts only debuted in 2020 in India and only expanded worldwide last year.
Through her official blog, YouTube CEO Susan Wojicicki outlined the platform's priorities for 2022, which include YouTube expanding some shopping features, some working with NFT, and more.
Alongside those revelations, Wojicicki also announced that YouTube Shorts have amassed more than 5 trillion views since their debut.
"More people are creating content on YouTube than ever before. We're seeing momentum across platforms, including on Shorts. We've now hit 5 trillion all-time views on Shorts!" he wrote as quoted by us from 9to5google, Friday (28/1/2022).
In his blog, it is also said that the Shorts platform will have an expansion of the Remix feature this year. In addition, YouTube is also testing new ways for creators to monetize Shorts outside of the Shorts Fund program in over 100 countries and 'BrandConnect'.
