Apple released the iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates, which they just released today. This update should already be available on devices that still support iOS and iPadOS 15.
Although there are no new features, this update has a fairly large size, which is 1.06GB for the iPhone. But that doesn't mean you don't need to update, because Apple is patching exploitable loopholes in the operating system.
The first loophole is a gap related to memory corruption, which is said to be frequently exploited. Then there are also bugs in the WebKit implementation for Safari. In this loophole, sites can use a special JavaScript API to access the name of from another database of the site being accessed at the same time.
Or in other words, a site created specifically for this purpose could spy on other sites being opened by iOS and iPadOS users using Safari.
This is dangerous because some sites use user-specific identification in their databases, which allows personal information to leak through this loophole.

That means, if you don't use Safari and only use Chrome, it doesn't matter, right? Not really. Apple forced third-party browsers on iOS and iPadOS to use their rendering engine, which made the loophole also impact Chrome users.
There are also a few other security issues that Apple fixed in this iOS and iPadOS 15.3. The complete list can be seen on the operating system update page.
How to update iPhone and iPad to iOS and iPadOS 15.3 is easy, just go to Settings - General - Software Update menu.
