Jeff Bezos offers a 'pay to quit' bonus for his employees at Amazon. However, what is unique is that he still hopes that his employees will stay at his company forever.
The Amazon founder wrote in a newsletter with the headline 'Please Don't Take This Offer'. This offer will run for five years with a cash amount of USD 2,000 at the beginning of the year, then increase USD 1,000 annually until it reaches USD 5,000 at the end of the offer.
However, there is a note, for those who decide to stop working and receive the bonus, they are not allowed to return to Amazon.
As it turns out, this idea was not Bezos' original but was inspired by Zappos, a footwear and clothing company that Amazon bought in 2019. The goal is to create space for employees to think about what they really want.
"In the long term, employees staying where they don't want to be is unhealthy for both the employee and the company," wrote the Blue Origin boss.
Amazon itself is often reported to pay employees salaries below market levels. In several media reports, more than 50 vice presidents of the company decided to leave in 2021 citing unsatisfactory payments.
Even so, Amazon remains a large company that is in demand by a large number of market shares in the world. Amazon also brought Jeff Bezos to become the richest person in the world a few years before finally being replaced by Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and Tesla. Thus launched India TV.
