There are so many mysteries in outer space that have not been identified by science. Recently, astronomers have discovered a mysterious object that has never been found or seen before in space.
As quoted by us from CTV News, Thursday (27/1/2022) a team of scientists who mapped radio waves in the universe, detected the object, which was observed to release large energy beams 3 times in 1 hour. This object also appears to rise and fall.
The findings have been published in the journal Nature. Although it's not known exactly what the object is, astronomers believe it could be a neutron star or a white dwarf, a star whose core collapses with a strong magnetic field.
"This object seemed to appear and disappear within hours of our observations. It was really surprising and quite scary for astronomers because there is no object in space like it," said Natasha Hurley Walker, one of the researchers.
"And also the mysterious object is located really close to us, about 4,000 light years away. It's like in the backyard of our galaxy," he added.
Objects that appear and sink in space are not new to science, but the difference is that these objects do so in a short amount of time.
This mysterious object is very bright, smaller than the Sun, and emits radio waves that indicate its magnetic field is very strong. Currently, the astronomers continue to observe it with the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) telescope in Australia.
"I was worried that this mysterious object was alien, but it is on a very wide frequency and it means the process is natural, it's not an artificial signal," added Hurley Walker.
