YouTube is reportedly testing a new feature called Smart Downloads (smart downloads) for apps on Android. This test can also be used on some users in the European region although it is not widely available.
With the Smart Downloads feature, it allows users to download videos automatically when the device is connected to Wi-Fi. This feature previously existed in the YouTube Music app.
This ability serves to download 20 videos automatically every week. The results of these downloads will appear on the downloads page of the 'Library' tab which can be watched offline.
This feature is also expected to help users who have limited quota or those in areas with poor signal coverage or even none at all.
The algorithm on this feature will be responsible for deciding what is downloaded is good enough for YouTube Music and videos.
Note that users who have less phone storage will be notified that they need to add more memory for automatic downloads to continue.
This feature works on the latest version of the Android operating system as reported by us from 9to5google, Saturday (15/1/2022).
