There has been a global shortage of chips since the beginning of the pandemic, but Qualcomm is optimistic that the situation will improve soon.
In the second half of this year, we hope that the situation will improve and we can fulfill OEM (original equipment manufacturer) orders.
He also emphasized that this scarcity crisis is not only happening at Qualcomm, but also in all other chipset industries. Namely chip manufacturers who cannot fulfill chip orders from OEMs in various industries.
Furthermore, he also confirmed that in the future there will be more phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 released on the market, not only the Galaxy S22 line from Samsung which was just released some time ago.
However, he did not want to divulge what phones will be released, because according to him it is the right of OEMs to surprise their fans.
Of course there will be more (phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1). We don't want to spoil the surprises OEMs have about the phones they're about to release.
As is known, currently there are phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 - the successor to Snapdragon 888 - which have been officially released on the market. Namely the Samsung Galaxy S22 line, which all series use Qualcomm's flagship chip.
This is the first time Samsung has brought the Galaxy S line to market with a Qualcomm SoC. Usually, Samsung releases Galaxy S that uses the Exynos SoC, while those using Qualcomm's SoC are only released in certain countries, such as the United States.
