The Huawei P50 was launched in Indonesia on February 11, just a few days after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Both of them carry qualified specs. But if you compare, which one is okay?
Design
Huawei P50 Pro and Galaxy S22 Ultra both bring design changes from the previous generation. Huawei made the back of its new phone with two camera circles called Dual Matrix.
The back of the Huawei P50 Pro uses a glass material that is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, while the frame is metal. The edges are curved front and back
Samsung no longer applies a contour cut design like the Galaxy S21 Ultra which was released last year. The Galaxy S22 Ultra looks like the Galaxy Note series. This can be seen from the box design at the top with curved edges on the left and right.
The camera hole is made integrated with the rear body without any embellishing modules. This phone also includes an S-Pen in the body. The Galaxy S21 Ultra already supports the digital stylus, it's just that it's separate so it's not practical.
Both the P50 Pro and S22 Ultra offer a premium look. Huawei offers Golden Black and Cocoa Gold options, while Samsung offers Phantom Black, White, Burgundy, Green, Graphite, Red, Sky Blue options
Problem dimensions are not far apart. Huawei P50 Pro measures 158.8 x 72.8 x 8.5 and weighs 195 grams.
While the Galaxy S22 Ultra has dimensions of 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9 mm, and weighs 228 grams.
Screen
Huawei P50 Pro carries a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1228 x 2700 pixels and a screen body. The screen of this phone provides 1 billion colors and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
While the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a wider screen landscape. The size is 6.8 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 3088 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and a screen to body ratio of 90.2%.
This screen is more pleasing to the eye through the Vision Booster feature which automatically adjusts the screen based on the ambient lighting. In addition, the brightness level provided is up to 1,750 nits.
Camera
The main advantage of the Huawei P50 Pro is in the camera. Even its ability has been recognized by the DxOMark page which places it at number one on the list of the best mobile phones today.
Huawei P50 Pro has a 50 MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, a 64 MP periscope camera with a 23 mm lens and OIS that promises up to 200x zoom, a 13 MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera and a 40 MP black and white camera. (f/1.6). The selfie camera itself is 13 MP.

Huawei also provides the True-Chroma Image Engine which is claimed to provide the highest possible color accuracy, creating images that reflect what the human eye sees.
The ambient light sensing system uses a 10-channel multi-spectrum sensor, combined with calibration of more than 2,000 colors across the P3 wide color gamut, to increase its ability to detect ambient light and average hue accuracy by 50% and 20% respectively. The colors created are claimed to be more varied than ever because they accurately reproduce true colors from real life.
The Huawei P50 Pro also has a new Super Color Filter System, with True-Chroma Camera (colour) and True-Chroma Camera (monochrome) increasing the main camera's light intake by 103 percent for better image clarity. In low-light scenarios, images become brighter and more detailed
In group photos, users can zoom in on individual subjects and still see sharp details and textures in everyone. Then there's Super HDR technology capturing 28 percent more dynamic range for better backlight performance, while light and shadow are optimized, creating richer textures and clearer layers.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra hasn't been tested by DxOMark, although it could pose a serious threat to the Huawei P50 Pro. Because, Samsung provides many improvements to the successor to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The main camera is 108 MP, equipped with a 12 MP ultra wide lens, a 10 MP telephoto that can 3x optical zoom, and a 10 MP periscope camera that can do 10x optical zoom and 100x space zoom. While the front camera is 40 MP.
The main and telephoto sensors on this phone are equipped with OIS for stability when taking photos. Do not miss the digital video image stabilization (VDIS) which can minimize vibration so that the recorded video is more stable and looks smooth.
Galaxy S22 Ultra uses Super Clear Glass. This means that when we take photos day or night, reduce noise or the effects of reflections from disturbing lights.
Samsung implemented adaptive pixels on the Galaxy S22 series Ultra with nano-binning. This feature promises a more detailed and bright image.
There are many features that Samsung provides to enhance the photography and videography experience. One thing that was mentioned the most at the launch event was Nightography.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra promises to be able to take bright and detailed photos even in low-light conditions. Instead of relying on a flash like a standard camera, Samsung has installed a larger sensor, from 1.8 microns to 2.4 microns.
Then there is the latest Auto Framing feature 2 which is able to detect and follow the movements of up to 10 people and automatically adjusts the focus of the camera, so the camera will record people more clearly.
Taking photos in Portrait mode is made easier with AI Stereo Depth Map. The subject being photographed will appear even better with the smallest details appearing so sharp and clear. The same is true for animals. The latest Portrait Mode on the Galaxy S22 series is able to prevent pet hairs from blending into the background so that users can get the best photos of their favorite animals.
The Galaxy S22 Series offers an Expert RAW application that provides users with several export and edit options. This creates a DSLR-like experience and allows users to have more control over the creative process of taking pictures.
The Expert RAW app also gives users the option to export images directly to the Adobe Lightroom app so they can edit images as desired, either by using manual sliders or by using presets. Those shooting in RAW will notice that images exported in that format require color gradation so this can be a useful feature.
And, like a DSLR camera, you can make photos lighter or darker with ISO and shutter speed settings, adjust white balance to make photos appear warmer or cooler, and adjust focus manually according to the subject being photographed.
Of course, there are plenty of other features in the Galaxy S22 series camera app including a macro mode that uses the ultra-wide camera to capture close-up objects, single take, Director's View and Object Eraser.
The superior camera of the Huawei P50 Pro or Galaxy S22 Ultra needs to be tested together to see the results. Wait for us.
Performance
Huawei capitalizes on this new phone with the Snapdragon 888 chipset combined with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
When compared, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is superior. Because the chipset used is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which is the successor to Snapdragon 888.
Likewise the battery, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a capacity of 5,000 mAh. While the P50 Pro 4,360 mAh.
Even so, Huawei provides 66W fast charging. Meanwhile, Samsung only provides 45W fast charging.
One feature that may be difficult for any phone to compete with is the presence of the S Pen on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. This stylus can help user productivity. In addition, the existence of DeX can turn this phone into a desktop.
Galaxy S22 Ultra already supports 5G. Unfortunately Huawei only provides a 4G connection on the P50 Pro
Apart from this, this Chinese technology giant provides complete accessories in its sales package, one of which is a 66W charger.
