The Galaxy S22 has been officially released by Samsung, this phone challenges the iPhone 13 directly. Here's a comparison of the specifications of these two flagship phones.
Design
Dimensionally, the Galaxy S22 is similar to the iPhone 13. Samsung made the phone with a size of 146 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm, while Apple made the successor to the iPhone 12 with dimensions of 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.7 mm.
The Galaxy S22 is lighter, weighing in at 167 grams, while the iPhone 13 weighs 174 grams.
Both phones carry a glass-coated back which is claimed to be equally sturdy. Apple adopts a ceramic shield, while Samsung uses Gorilla Glass Victus +. Both the iPhone 13 and Galaxy S22 are IP68 rated, which means they are water and dust resistant.
In design there is no significant difference from the previous generation. Samsung only slightly polished the contour cut in the camera module, Apple just changed the rear camera arrangement to a diagonal and a 20% smaller notch
The Galaxy S22 has a choice of Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Pink Gold colors. While the iPhone 13 comes in black, white, blue, pink and red.
Screen
The Galaxy S22 and iPhone 13 both have 6.1-inch screens, 19.5:9 ratios and AMOLED panels. But it must be admitted that Samsung phones are slightly superior.
The Galaxy S22 screen already supports a 120Hz refresh rate, has HDR10+ support and has a brightness of up to 1,300 nits. This phone also carries Vision Booster technology which automatically adjusts the screen based on the ambient lighting.
While the iPhone 13 still carries a 60Hz refresh rate and has a brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Even so, the iPhone 13 has a higher resolution, which is 1170 x 2532 pixels. Samsung's new mobile phone carries a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.
iPhone 13 brings camera upgrades from its predecessors. Although the size is still 12 MP, Apple has equipped a new, larger sensor that allows more light than before. The same thing Samsung did on the Galaxy S22.
Which one is better, of course, has to be tested. It's just that the Galaxy S22 has a more complete composition because of the 10MP telephoto camera that can perform 3x optical zoom. Samsung also embeds a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera.
This South Korean tech giant doesn't just rely on hardware. It features an AI Stereo Depth Map to enhance the bokeh captured by the Galaxy S22, and when recording video, the Auto Framing feature can detect and track up to 10 people, adjusting focus to keep things clear.
The feature is an interesting counterpoint to the Cinematic mode that Apple introduced to all of its iPhone 13 models. Cinematic mode allows users to record videos with blurred backgrounds, and can change what becomes blurry when the focus of the shot changes.
Performance
iPhone 13 is equipped with the Apple A15 Bionic chip, which provides fast performance. Its performance is 30% better than the A14 Bionic used in the iPhone 12.
Galaxy S22 in Indonesia is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which is the fastest chipset from Qualcomm. Of course further testing needs to be done to compare the performance of these two phones.
However, the initial test results that appeared on the internet showed that the Apple A15 Bionic was superior to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Battery
The battery of the iPhone 13 is slightly larger, with a capacity of 3,700 mAh. While the Galaxy S22 has a 3,240 mAh battery. Both are equipped with 25W fast charging.
Which is more economical? Again need to do further testing in terms of daily use.
