Facebook Reels is finally rolling out worldwide bringing new features and more ads. Previously, this TikTok competitor feature was only available in the United States since last September.
Meta launches Reels on Facebook for Android and iOS in 150 countries. This is Meta's move to expand its flagship feature after reports that the number of Facebook users is decreasing.
"Reels is already our fastest growing content format, and today we're making it available to everyone on Facebook globally," said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post. ).
Apart from expanding Reels services to more countries, Meta has also added several new editing features to Facebook Reels. Most of these features are already available on Facebook Reels in the US and on Instagram Reels in the US and in 50 countries.
Facebook Reels users will be able to access the Remix feature, which is similar to the Duet feature on TikTok. This feature allows creators to create their own Reel in addition to the existing Reel on Facebook. In addition, the duration of Facebook Reels is now extended to 60 seconds, just like Instagram Reels.
Two more features, Drafts and Video Clipping, are coming soon. Drafts allows creators to create content and save it for later upload. While Video Clipping will help creators edit live videos or long content to be suitable for Reels.
Meta also brings more ads on Facebook Reels. There will be two new ad formats, namely banner ads that appear as a transparent overlay at the bottom of the reel, and static sticker ads that creators can place anywhere on the reel.
Facebook will also provide opportunities for creators to earn more, including providing access to an ad-placement program and rolling out a Stars feature where fans can tip creators directly.
In the next few weeks, Facebook users will also be able to share their Reels to Stories and watch Reels from the Facebook Watch tab. Facebook will also display Reels and creation tools at the top of users' feeds.
