Google, which recently provided a virtual private network (VPN) feature to Google One customers, is now bringing this feature to iOS.
VPN by Google One is claimed to "provide peace to iOS users". Oh yes, this VPN feature is only available for Google One subscribers for plans of 2TB and above, namely the Premium plan. Meanwhile, customers of the Basic and Standard packages cannot taste it.
The VPN, which is available through the Google One application on iOS, can be shared with up to five family members registered with a Google account, at no additional cost and is not limited to the platform used.
So far, only 10 countries have been able to experience Google One's VPN features, and the 10 countries are Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Google promises that this feature will be available in more countries in the future, as quoted from GSM Arena, Thursday (3/2/2022).
In addition to VPN, Google One also has three new features. Namely Safe Disconnect, where users can only use an internet connection when the VPN is active, App Bypass, where certain applications can use an internet connection without a VPN, and Snooze, which is temporarily turning off VPN on Google One.
Google promises its system has an integrated advanced security system, as well as an open source client library. The end-to-end system is independently audited, and VPN by Google One also has full certification from the Internet of Things Alliance (ioXt) and has successfully passed eight security requirements from the agency.
These capabilities seem to make Google believe that its VPN can provide peace of mind for iOS users. But keep in mind, Apple also has a service like a VPN integrated into iCloud, namely Private Relay, which all iCloud customers can enjoy from the cheapest plan.
