How to Keep HP Safe when Borrowed, Can't Open Other Applications

HP is a personal item where we do many things, from stalking exes, exchanging messages, to storing sensitive things such as banking.

Then how do you maintain privacy on your cellphone when it is borrowed by a friend? Here's how it was quoted from Business Focus.

For Android owners

Since version 5.0 Lollipop was launched in 2014, the operating system includes a feature called Screen Pinning. Basically, this mode locks the phone user in one particular app, so when a friend borrows a cell phone he can't open other apps or change settings unless they can unlock the phone.

To set screen pinning, go to 'Settings' and tap 'Security', then 'Advanced Settings', and App pinnin'. Toggle the switch next to 'Use app pinning'. Make sure you have turned on the option to always ask for a PIN or unlock pattern before enabling this mode.

Next, open the application that you want to allow borrowers to access. Swipe up half the screen until the 'Overview' option appears. Tap the icon at the top of the app you want to pin and a menu will appear. Select Pins.

To restore the full functionality of your phone, swipe up and hold again, then enter your PIN or pattern. If you have a friend or relative that you're constantly lending your device to, try guest mode on Android. This capability gives phone borrowers often their own user account, complete with independent apps, browser settings, and more.

For iOS owners

On Apple smartphones, the 'Guided Access' feature can help protect iPhone from anyone borrowing it. This mode works a lot like pinnin on Android screens, and restricts guests to only one app of your choice, unless they have the correct PIN code, Touch ID, or Face ID authorization.

To set it up, go to 'Settings' and select 'Accessibility', followed by 'Guided Access'. The next screen provides options, enabling or disabling the feature, and setting whether you want to use a PIN code, Touch ID, or Face ID to unlock the mode. You can also set a timer.
