Instagram has a Daily Limit feature that allows users to receive notifications of how long they have spent on the app.
At the time the feature was launched, parent company Meta said its aim was to give users more control over the amount of time they spend on its platform and encourage conversation between parents and teens about healthy online habits.
With the daily limit feature, Instagram provides a duration ranging from 30 minutes to a maximum of 3 hours or you can choose to disable it.
"Limit the time you spend on Instagram each day by scheduling a reminder to close the app," reads a message from the feature in the app.
So after the user determines the desired time, Instagram will give a notification to the user to take a break and close the application.
However, TechCrunch reports that Instagram has increased the minimum daily time limit setting from 10 to 30 minutes. This is supposedly to make users view Instagram longer so that the opportunity to see the Ads they place is greater so that it can be one way to offset related revenue, as reported by TechCrunch.
Instagram through their official account on Twitter, denied Tech Crunch which said they were increasing the minimum time limit for Instagram daily. Instagram explains that it has two similar features, one of which is Take a Break, which was recently launched.
This article fails to mention that we have two time management features. Our existing 'daily limit' shows you a notification when you've hit your daily limit, but our newest feature 'Take A Break' shows you full-screen reminders to leave the app, and includes 10 minute intervals pic.twitter.com/ cZmGTlXvuB

As the name implies, this feature will remind users who have been playing Instagram for too long to take a break. Users can activate this feature via the Settings menu in the Instagram app, then choose when to get a reminder to take a break: after 10 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes.
Once activated, Instagram will show a full screen reminder to leave the app with notification intervals every 10 minutes. Instagram users are then advised to take a breath, listen to music, check to-do-lists, and so on.
