The 2022 Chinese New Year celebration will be celebrated on February 1 tomorrow. To help enliven the Lunar New Year celebrations this year, Instagram launched Tiger New Year-themed AR stickers and filters.
"Instagram wants its users to still be able to connect with their loved ones and closest relatives despite the pandemic and share exciting moments through a series of stickers and AR filters specifically for the #YearBaruMacan celebration," said Instagram Asia Pacific Communications Manager Putri Silalahi in an official statement received by us, Monday. (31/1/2022).
"We hope that this feature can treat longing with family and relatives, to create a memorable Chinese New Year atmosphere," he continued.
To bring out the New Year's theme of the Tiger, Instagram teamed up with Ophelia Pang, a 3D creator, illustrator, and co-founder of CGI company from Hong Kong. Pang created three tiger stickers in bright colors to match the festive Chinese New Year.
This tiger sticker can be accessed via Instagram Stories and select the smiley icon above. These three tiger stickers will appear at the top so you don't have to bother looking for them.
All Stories of users who use this sticker will be entered into the combined Stories that will appear in the Stories bar at the very beginning, so that users can see the exciting Chinese New Year moments shared by other users.
Not only that, Instagram also presents a Tiger New Year-themed face filter. This animated filter showcases various Chinese New Year traditions such as specialty foods and red packets.
To use this AR filter, users can open the Stories page in the Instagram app and select 'Search Effects'. Search filters with the keyword 'Happy Lunar New Year' by @apacculturalmoments.
To try out the filter, press the 'Try It' button. This filter can be used for both front and rear cameras. Filters can also be saved in the Story camera gallery to make it easier if you want to use them again.
