Instagram launches a new way to interact on Stories. This Meta -owned application released a new feature called Private Story Likes that allows users to like other users' Stories privately, without sending a DM.
Previously, Instagram users could only respond to Story by leaving a comment or emoji. This response goes directly to the DM inbox just like a regular message. With this new feature, users can respond to Story without filling other people's inboxes.
"Starting rolling today, you can now send a little love by liking other people's stories without sending a DM," said Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri in his announcement on Twitter, as quoted by The Verge, Tuesday (15/2/2022).
"Likes in stories are private and there are no numbers. Instead, likes appear as hearts next to the handle (username) of the person on your Stories display sheet," he continued.

To like other people's Stories, users simply click the heart button between the message field and the airplane icon. Once clicked, the Story creator will immediately receive a like.
Like in Story will not be counted as in the main Instagram feed. Users can only see likes received through the list of people who saw the Story, and next to their name will see a red heart icon.
Due to its private nature, other users who view your Instagram Story will not be able to see the number of likes you receive. Likes received will also not go into the DM, which is called Mosseri is intended to make the DM cleaner.
"The idea is to make sure people can express more support to each other, but also while cleaning up the DM," Mosseri said.
"Messaging is a key priority for us, and one of the important parts is to focus on the DM between you and the people you love," he concluded.
