The year 2021 is a turning point for this woman named Brittany Pierre. He sold his photographic works as NFT or non fungiable tokens and it sold well and earned quite a lot of money.
Whereas before, Brittany was really struggling. He had a hard time paying the rent for his apartment, even just buying groceries or bus tickets. This condition had made the woman who lives in Chicago quite depressed.
Well in March 2021, he started learning about NFT. A friend of his who is an artist, managed to sell his work worth USD 17 thousand as NFT thus inspiring Brittany to do the same.
A month later, Brittany started selling her first NFT. It didn't take long, each of his photos could sell for hundreds of dollars, more than when he physically sold them.
"It's hard to sell a photo worth USD 50. I do get rented sometimes, but I'm not sure. So selling hundreds of dollars of NFT is a lot for me. That's what I need to pay for the apartment rent," he said, as quoted by us from CNBC.
As her income grew, Brittany was not only able to pay her bills, she was also able to donate to other artists who needed help.
"Last year was the first time I was able to live in abundance than before. Last year, I was able to make USD 100 thousand less," he said.
In total, the money he made from selling the NFT was USD 109 thousand. At the beginning of selling NFT, he was helped a lot by his colleagues including paying for some administrative fees.
"At that time, I probably only had USD 10 in the bank account, while the fee for selling NFT was around USD 250," said Brittany.
His own photography works are mostly street and portrait photography, featuring black women. "When you Google beautiful women, it's usually white women that come up. So I wanted to highlight black women."
At this point, Brittany admits to selling NFT's work as a full time job. It doesn't work every day anymore. He feels his needs have been fulfilled by this way.
"In the beginning, the money was able to pay the rent on time. Then, I could buy the basics. I could fill the refrigerator which never happened before," said Brittany.
Apart from that, he was also able to buy better photography equipment. Currently, he is trying to raise money, aka saving, to buy his own place to live and his dream Tesla car.
