Realme's ambition to compete with Samsung and Apple, can it?

Realme is considered secretly having big ambitions as the mobile phone company develops. They are said to want to compete at the top with the launch of their first premium phone soon. Can you?

The smartphones are reportedly called GT 2 and GT 2 Pro and were released at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This is the first time that Realme has participated in the world's largest mobile exhibition.

The smartphone in question will enter the European market to grow the market in developed countries. Realme will also try to compete with big names like Apple, Samsung, or fellow Chinese vendors such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.

"In China and the European market, we want to focus on innovation in the high-end market," said Realme CEO Sky Li, as quoted by CNBC.

"In the European market, as in other markets, we position ourselves to provide affordable phones with outstanding performance and trendy designs. In the European market, our strategy is the same," he added.

Realme may not be well known in the European or US market, but it is growing rapidly. In the fourth quarter of 2021, they shipped 20.65 million smartphones, up 48% from a year earlier, according to data from Counterpoint Research.

However, in the global market, Realme's market share is still around 6%. Of course, if they want to compete with Samsung and Apple, they have to do a good strategy and work hard.

"The next challenge is to convince consumers who are used to buying established brands to spend the same price on Realme," said Harmett Singh, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research.
