Samsung Brings Durable Cellphones and Tablets to the Market

 


Samsung presents the Galaxy XCover 5 and Galaxy Tab Active 3. Both of these devices are made tough and durable so they are suitable for use in harsh and challenging work environments.

Both devices are MIL-STD-810H certified for toughness in the most extreme working environments and are claimed to be able to absorb impact even when dropped from a height of 1.5 meters. Both also meet IP68 rating standards for resistance to dust, dirt, and sand, as well as water resistance when submerged at a depth of up to one meter for 30 minutes.


Another important rugged feature in both is Touch Sensitivity. When this feature is activated, professionals can continue to use the device even when wearing gloves.




Samsung provides guaranteed upgrade support for up to three generations of Android OS for the Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 and Galaxy Tab Active 3. Both devices are also equipped with regular Android security updates and protection from Samsung Knox.


It is a multi-layer security platform made by Samsung for protection from chips to applications. Samsung Knox is claimed to protect confidential business information with real-time and pre-emptive responses to address increasingly sophisticated security threats.


Galaxy XCover 5 Specifications

The Galaxy XCover 5 is 71.6mm wide and 9.2mm thick, making it a perfect fit to hold and carry around. Wet Touch support keeps the touch screen responsive, for example in the drizzle.


In addition to rugged features and military-standard durability, the Galaxy Xcover 5 is reinforced by the Exynos 850 processor, 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. Samsung pinned a 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front.


This smartphone also features a removable 3,000mAh battery, so it's easy to replace with a spare battery when needed. There is also support for 15W fast charging via USB and charging via POGO pins.


The Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 is also equipped with an XCover Key. This is a customized feature that offers one-touch access to your most used apps.


Users simply press or hold the button to open applications or perform frequently used functions. For example, ticketing workers can simply use XCover Key to open a barcode scanner application, or logistics workers need to check the route of a package via QR code.


The XCover Key can also be used as a walkie-talkie when a push-to-talk solution is installed, for easy and secure work conversations. XCover Key is also capable of running Samsung Knox Capture for easy enterprise-class scanning directly on the smartphone.


In terms of business security, Galaxy XCover 5 has received Security Maintenance Release support regularly for 5 years. This operating system update is important to protect the business from any mobile device technology security threats.


Specifications of the Galaxy Tab Active 3

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 is supported by an Exynos 9810 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 1TB. This tablet is provided with WiFi 6 support for faster data connectivity.


The built-in 13MP rear camera allows taking clear pictures or scanning documents, and the 5MP front camera is ideal for video calling needs during meetings or coordinating important work.


The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 is equipped with a removable 5,050mAh battery, and supports fast charging via USB and POGO pins to save charging time.


Uniquely, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 is now equipped with No Battery Mode which allows it to be used without a battery, just connect it with a power cable.


To support work productivity, this tablet is equipped with the Samsung DeX feature to use it like a PC, so field workers can use their tablet to work on work documents without a laptop or desktop.


Samsung Dex can also be used wirelessly to Samsung Smart TVs. The Galaxy Tab Activen3 can also be connected to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, when needed.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 also supports Google ARCore so it can be used for remote training purposes. The Active Key button located on the side of the device allows quick access to the most frequently used applications, such as emergency calls, scanning or doing Push-to-Talk (PTT) communications and so on.


These buttons can be configured on individual devices or collectively by the company IT admin.


There is also a Retail Ready feature which is optimal for barcode-based scanning, making it easier for retail businesses to manage stock and record products that must be purchased. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 also supports NFC with EMV Level 1 for payment purposes.


Equipped with an IP68 certified S Pen, it helps users when they want to sign and manage complex documents when they have to wear gloves. Don't miss the Fingerprint scanner which is built in on the Home key for security.
