Samsung Galaxy S22 Can Update Android Up To 4 Times?

So far, Google Pixel users have always been proud of their phones for getting the fastest and most frequent Android updates. It seems that Samsung wants to outperform the frequency of updates offered by Google.

Recent rumors from Twitter user @TechByBD say Samsung plans to provide four Android updates and up to five years of security updates for some of its devices.

The devices in question include the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. , as quoted from Android Authority, Tuesday (8/2/2022).

If these rumors are true, the Galaxy S22 series that launches with Android 12 later will get updates to Android 13, Android 14, Android 15, and Android 16. With Android 16, the Galaxy S22 will still receive security updates for another year before being discontinued.

This Samsung commitment also beats what Google has to offer. The Google Pixel is currently getting three Android updates and five years of security updates. Meanwhile, Apple offers five iOS updates for the iPhone and five to seven years of security updates.

In 2020, Samsung announced that its line of devices would get Android updates for three generations. Almost all lines of Samsung devices are now receiving three Android updates, namely the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy A, Galaxy Z, Galaxy XCover, and Galaxy Tab.

Currently, the news about four Android updates for the Galaxy S22 and friends is still just a rumor. We will wait for confirmation when Samsung introduces the Galaxy S22 at the Galaxy Unpacked event which will be held on February 9 tomorrow.
