Selling NFT Trash Can Image, This Man Becomes New Rich

Like getting a windfall, an artist from the United States (US) sold a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) with a picture of a trash can and it sold up to USD250 thousand.

This man named Robness seems to prove the price of decentralized digital art still continues in the NFT world.

At the beginning of the story, Robness -- not her real name -- took a photo of a trash can on the internet. Then he edited it with a touch of psychedelic and glitch effects and sold it on the NFT SuperRare platform.

The work, called 64 Gallon Toter, was uploaded several years ago, but was removed by NFT SuperRare for violating the copyrights of other companies.

As quoted by Mashable, Monday (7/2/2022) Robness explained that his work was made as an art of anger, where the trash can is a way out to express his anger.

"I installed it and it was removed. They thought I took the picture from the Home Depot store and violated copyright. They threatened me legally," he said.

Surprisingly, Robness' work was restored two years later. Then, he suddenly became rich.

Once upon a time, a collector called Robness. The collector, whose name is not known, wants to know more about the creation of the NFT trash bin.

"He called me because he wanted to know more about the story and we talked about 30-45 minutes of funny stuff and he always laughed at it," said Robness.

He conveyed that there were three works of NFT trash bins displayed on SuperRare, one of which was sold to the collector.

"He wanted it, and I gave him a price, that's all," he said.

An unexpected fortune from the sale of NFT, made Robness no longer sleep in the car and do odd jobs which she has been doing since 2014. The proceeds from the sale of NFT have allowed Robness to live comfortably so far.

The sale of Robness' unique trash cans complements the quirky stories that have been sold at NFT. Previously, Ghozali Everyday was able to earn billions of rupiah by selling selfies that he did every day for five years.
