Huawei introduced the first Dual-Matrix camera system in the Huawei P50 Pro. The Main Camera on the Huawei P50 Pro is assembled from two lenses, namely RGB and monochrome, combined with a multi-spectrum sensor adapted to the advancement of the AI-Raw concept, and a telephoto periscope camera on the side capable of zooming up to 200 times.


The Huawei P50 Pro camera system allows the RGB color and monochrome sensors to perform fusion processing with multiple photos at the same time at the electrical signal level. The fusion module can take full advantage of both sensors, especially by using more light captured through the monochrome sensor with less image noise to maintain color authenticity.



In addition, the Huawei P50 Pro also has a special color scheme for monochrome fusion that can dynamically update white balance and color correction in photos, thereby enhancing the features of better photo scene adaptation. Integrated with a high-resolution image processing engine, the Huawei P50 Pro can produce brighter images and is able to shoot objects with more light entering, resulting in clearer photos.


Regarding AI-Raw, this innovation is to minimize differences in viewing angles when light refracts. When the shutter is pressed, the sensor will take several photos for fusion processing along with processing image details, thereby minimizing the loss of electrical signal conversion that causes photos to be less sharp.



The main camera of the Huawei P50 Pro is claimed to be able to instantly capture a large amount of light which is directly transmitted to a semiconductor sensor to be converted into an electrical signal. This process can make group photos using the main camera clearer, and even appear three-dimensionally realistic down to the texture of the skin.


In addition to group photos, the advantages of high light entering the HuaweiP50 Pro main camera can also be felt for taking photos at night. The main camera can convert the captured light into a digital signal, which is then sent to the NPU and image signal processor (ISP) for processed.


In this way, the contrast of the brightness signal in the image is closer to the actual scene, and it is not easy to over- or underexpose. What's more, the difference in brightness is also rated as accurate to the pixel level, without worrying about problems caused by increased exposure or sensitivity.


In addition to relying on monochrome and the main camera to make ordinary shooting details clearer, Huawei is also taking advantage of the P50 Pro's multi-camera collaboration feature to take advantage of other camera combinations. When using telephoto or ultra-wide angle shots, the main camera also contributes to capturing more images.


For backlighting, dual-focus cameras can capture images with different exposures at the same time, even in backlit environments. Backlit HD resolution images have a wider tolerance without losing the quality of their exposure to dark detail.
